One year ago today, I put up my first post at The Curvy Elle. So much has happened since I wrote that first post. Life has grown. I have grown. The Shop and this blog have grown. All into something greater than I could ever imagine.
When I started this endeavor, it was more like a ‘whim.’ I had a vision in my head, but I didn’t know if it would actually work. A few weeks before I started this blog and shop, I remember telling my supervisor in New York (the designer I worked with who was also from the Bay Area) that I would love to be able to work for myself. Have a vintage shop back in California. I was partly dreaming, partly joking, and partly sharing my hopes. She felt the same way for herself, but I’m the one who actually took the risk and pursued a dream.
I thought this would be a hobby that I’d enjoy for a few months, then get tired of it and stop doing it. But, the opposite has happened. It has thrived. I have fallen in love with what I am doing. I am able to make an (small) income for myself doing what I love. No riches in the world can substitute happiness. I can only hope to imagine where the blog and shop and I will be on the second anniversary of all this.
