Sentimental Hoarding

February 25, 2013

Since starting The Curvy Elle Shop and this blog, I have had to work at not wanting to hoard all my favorite pieces I find.  I guess it comes down to not getting attached to any one item. Things come and go, and you can always find another really great item to make your heart soar.

Items I do tend to keep and hoard for myself are those that truly mean something to me or I searched a long time for. That is what this look is made up of.

The navy pleated button front skirt is a piece that I found thrifting in New York at a Salvation Army in Chelsea.  Anyone out there who has done any form of thrifting in the New York City area know what a challenge it can be to find good pieces that are affordable.  The stores are always picked through on top of the prices.  I kept yearning to find a good basic pleated skirt  in my size.  One day, I came across this wonderful piece and it was on sale — SCORE!

The vintage Coach purse belonged to my maternal grandmother. She loved this style Coach purse and had bought it in about half a dozen different colors through the years. This is my favorite one. Every time I see this purse or one in this style it makes me think of my grandmother…

SO, my philosophy on clothing and accessories–keep the things that have sentimental value to you or that you would wear on a regular basis. Basically: BE CHOOSEY.  Clothes are (mainly) only clothes, and so are disposable.
