Last weekend I did this photo shoot with my mom early on Sunday morning before meeting my brother for breakfast in Niles, CA. Niles is a small district in the city I’ve grown up in. It is an “old town” type place. This shoot was taken at the Niles Depot Museum.
Niles has quite an interesting history for itself. It was at one time the Hollywood of it’s day for the silent movie era before it moved down to Southern California. The likes of Charlie Chaplin and Bronco Billy Anderson filmed movies there. When they realized that Northern California doesn’t get quite as many sunny days as the South, the movie industry in Niles moved on.
Sadly or gladly (depending on how you look at it!), today there are no paparazzi chasing celebrities down the street, but it is still a cute little place! A little hint of what it must of been like during it’s hay-day still lives on in it’s old time antique stores, restaurants, and little bungalow houses. It also acts as a step back in time for vintage inspired photo shoots!
The old train station transports me back to a different time and place. A time when life was simpler and travel was a whole hell of a lot harder than it is today. It is romanticized into a lovely shoot in clothes of today and yesterday. Straddling a line of today and of by gone eras…
