Like Me & I’ll Like You

September 2, 2012

“Like me and I’ll like you back!”–but, I know that you know that we may never actually bother with each other or read each others blogs. You’re just a number. I’m just a number.  And it’s all just a game.

Is it just me or is the mutual liking/following/etc. back and forth become almost spam like? It seems that some people act a little entitled about it.

I (personally) want someone to follow me in any form because they like my blog, my shop, and/or think I have something interesting to say. The same goes for me when I visit a fellow blogger.

I am always about quality versus quantity. I am, also, all for supporting each other when we believe in what we are supporting. I’d rather have 20 loyal readers/followers, than 1,000 mutual ‘likes.’

My question to my fellow bloggers: what is your view on mutual liking/following in the mass proportion that it has become?

Oh, nothing “almost” about it! It’s a form of spam, and it is stems from so many people trying to make it as bloggers. I don’t do mutual following thing because it’s weird :)

I couldn’t agree more with you Laurel! This “follow me and I’ll follow you back” technique has been bothering me for months. It seems that there are so many (mostly new) bloggers out there who only care about numbers.
I’m with you, I definitely prefer true readers to followers that may never come back to read your blog if you “follow them back”.
And I never do! I don’t support mutual following unless we really like each others’ blogs, and I totally ignore those comments. They are as good as spam to me. And what about those 3-4 links in each comment? hate it!

P.S. I usually don’t post my link on my comment, but since you don’t have the name/URL option enabled, I’ll leave a link to my actual blog, instead of the wordpress one which I use for commenting reasons in such cases.

Call me M @ Do You Speak Gossip?

It’s so annoying and confusing to someone new to the blogging world! What can you do though, I guess just ignore it? Kind of par for the course?

I absolutely hate it. In fact, when people leave comments telling me to follow them so they can follow back, I usually don’t even visit the blog because they really aren’t a fan of mine. They just want the ‘number’ and I personally don’t like the numbers game!
