Since I left New York, I have found that I have had to find inspiration for my creativity in new ways. New York in itself is one big inspiration–from the people, to the old time architecture, to the lifestyle… It is an eye inspiration at its fullest.
In California, the life style and everything visually surrounding it has a sort of hazy newness that you have to almost read between the lines to fill inspired by. If I didn’t read between those lines I would never find inspiration. It’s a mismatch melting pot to New York’s boiling pot.
I guess you can say it is all about who you are not where you are. There are so many amazing artists, writers, designers, and business people coming out of all parts of this country and the world. I have to keep reminding me of these influences when I am creating my own thing. New York is not the only place in the world to be to follow your dreams.
In New York everyone is special and amazing, so it’s very hard to stand out. In a place that isn’t so chalk full of amazingness, it is easier to shine and thrive. I just need to readjust my brain to a new perspective. Everything has is wonderful aspects, I am learning to readjust my eyesight.
