Just a Poor Workin’ Girl

June 19, 2012

When I  saw these slacks I instantly thought “1940’s working girl.”  Except they aren’t actually real 1940’s pants, they’re 1980’s does 1940’s–but I still love them anyway!

In these pants, I felt like I was stepping back in time.

I was a young working girl doing her part for the war effort, waiting for her boy to come home from war.

I always wish I could step back in time and be transported to different periods in history. See how my hometown was like, how life was, and how people acted.
History fascinates me.  The every day interests me more than anything. It’s one thing to look at pictures and read people’s stories, it’s another to know what life was like on a daily basis.
Clothing can kind of transport you. It lets you materialize the person that wore them and help you see them as real instead of an idea. I feel like clothes hold some little spark of spirit from the person who wore them.
