I may be a big girl, but like I mentioned in my previous post on Plus Size Healthy Living, I try to live a semi healthy life style.
I gym it up 3-6 days per week depending on my schedule and what’s going on in my life.
I don’t necessarily LIKE going to the gym and working out. What I like is how I feel afterwards–mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Yesterday, I went to the gym as normal. My basic routine (most recently) is to do any weight lifting/crunches before I do cardio. If I wait till after my cardio, I end up doing less because I am tired. So, my theory is to do weights first and I’ll do more because I have more energy.
The one exercise I ALWAYS do are crunches. One thing that I have found to be of great benefit to the inches around my waist and back are CRUNCHES! This is why they are #1 up there with cardio and stretching for me.
I digress… Back to yesterday–I had just finished my crunches and was headed out of the weight room when this semi buff guy gets up from a weight machine and stops me.
He calls out, “Excuse me, can I ask you something?”
Me: “Okaaaayyyy….?” (WTF does this dude want?)
Guy: “Doesn’t that hurt your back?” (Points to the crunch machine I’ve just left.)
Me: “No…..” (Why would I be doing them if they did?)
Guy: “You know, I lost 15 pounds in one week! Do you want to know how? By eating tuna and eggs for every meal and I cut out bread.”
He continued on with this for a while longer, while I tried to stay nice. When I was finally able to get away from him, i was really annoyed. This guy really pissed me off. Either he had a really lame ass excuse for hitting on me or he was stereotyping me for being heavy or BOTH!
I hate when people assume because I’m bigger that I don’t know what I’m doing with my health! I work hard to stay healthy and I hate to be boxed into a category. I’m sure I’m not the only plus size girl out there that has this happen to them…
