I love putting together “Out Takes” photo shoot posts because I love revisiting photos and seeing them in a new light. I have found that I can be initially very critical of pictures of myself. Going back to them after time has past lets me not be so critical of things. For the most part, I find myself pleasantly surprised at all the great shots I bypassed from the original shoot.  This shoot from last June is no different. The styling, backdrop, and mood is rough and retro with a lovely ‘pop!’. Who can resist red lips and high waisted pants?!

Make sure to check out the original post from this photo shoot entitled, “Filled with Glory.”

Wildflowers & Vulnerability

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worries
You belong somewhere you feel free…”

“…You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
You belong with your love on your arm
You belong somewhere you feel free…”

Everyone deserves happiness, comfort, stability, honesty, reliability and most of all love. It doesn’t matter your shape, size, race, or beauty. Everyone also deserves the freedom to be who they want to be.  It has taken me a long time to feel deserving (particularly in the romantic sense). Especially after having been brought back down to earth very, very hard (see past post: Body Image: Fight the Fight) and having to fight back to a place where I could finally see myself through the haze.

It’s easy to stay comfortable and somewhat content. It’s easy to settle. It’s easy to take the easy way out.  Who doesn’t want to give into that?

I have a hard time letting myself be vulnerable, and letting someone into your life intimately is the ultimate in vulnerability. But, how else do you discover what you want and need without letting in the possibility of hurt and failure? You can’t. So, you must gamble to move forward. There is that chances of ending up going backwards, but there is also the chance of finding something – or someone – pretty darn wonderful, or at least put you on the path to that…

“…Run away, go find a lover
Run away, let your heart be your guide
You deserve the deepest of cover
You belong in that home by and by…”
