Recently, I’ve been getting emails regarding sizing and how to know if an item in
The Curvy Elle Shop will fit you. On my Etsy ads, I try to make this as simple as possible because of the varying differences in sizing for vintage clothing. I always put detailed measurements for each garment. This is a quick guide on how to measure yourself to find the sizing match for a garment at
The Curvy Elle Shop.
1. Once you know all your basic measurements all you need to do is compare them to the measurements for a garment.
Please Note: All measurements are taken in the complete CIRCUMFERENCE measurement of an area.
Here is the measurements in the ad for the
above dress.
2. You will need a pen and paper to write down your measurements for future reference.
Using a TAPE MEASURE, measure your Across Shoulder:
3. Measure your Bust:
4. Measure your Waist:
5. Measure your Hips:
6. Next you will be measuring your Upper Arm. Which is the largest part of the top of your arm. This is usually a big problem area for people when it comes to sizing, so this is VERY important!
On an ad, this measurement will be listed as “Sleeve Muscle (Bicep)” for LONG SLEEVES, and “Sleeve Opening” for SHORT SLEEVES.
Measure your Upper Arm:
7. Finally, this measurement does not need to be written down because it varies from garment to garment. This is just to show you what I mean when I write “Length (Shoulder to Hem)” for a garments FULL LENGTH.
8. Happy Measuring! Feel free to comment if you have any more questions!
