In two weeks time I will be heading across the Nevada desert towards Salt Lake City, Utah area. My mom and I took this very same road trip two summers ago to visit family and see the sites. That was my very first time driving to Utah. Previously, we had always flown. So, the plan is to take on this endeavor once more and there may even be a side trip to Yellow Stone.

It’s such a different change of pace to take photos in a new location. It has taken me out of my rut and routine, because I must figure out how things work, how and when the light works best, and a easy and fast way to get things done. I feel a bit awkward and rusty, but I’m sure, soon enough I will once again have a routine down. At least it’s spiced things up a bit! I’m looking forward to new ideas and inspiration.
But, let’s talk about the sadness and beauty the drought in California has brought to the landscape. Everything is dead, brown, and yellow. It’s ugly and beautiful at the same time, and gives a whole new look and texture to life and photographs. You must find the good, even in the bad…
