Memorial Day Weekend + New Shop Items!

May 24, 2012

It is hard to believe, but this weekend is Memorial Day Weekend–the unofficial start of summer and all things associated with summer! It will be nice to order an iced coffee and not get funny stares because it’s cold outside. (It has to be crazy freezing for me to drink a hot coffee drink! I am an iced coffee fiend!)

I have to admit though, I am NOT looking forward to the humid nasty New York summer heading my way! I grew up in California my whole life, with dry heat and mild seasons. It can be hard to adapt! I already have my air conditioner installed–that’s how weather wimpy I am!

In celebration of Memorial Day Weekend, I am offering a 15% off Coupon Code to use on ALL items in The Curvy Elle Shop!!! Use coupon code MEMORIAL15  at checkout. This will be good now through Monday, May 28, 2012.

I finally (kind of) got the hang of taking self portrait pictures. I was able to photograph TWO dresses this morning before it started to torrential downpour. I am (slowly) adding some new items to store. I will be adding more items in the next couple of days (weather permitting) in time for the sale. Here are a few items I recently added!

This dress has a gathered waist which extends significantly with the added benefit of a full skirt. The fabric is a cotton/polyester jersey knit–which gives added stretch and comfort. It also features shoulder pads, front and back bodice yoke, long sleeves, side seam pockets, and a 3 button center back detail.

This is a great dress to wear on a picnic or sight seeing on a vacation. It is comfortable and stylish. You can just put it on and the dress speaks for itself! Can you see yourself in it? I’m asking only $30.00 (Plus Shipping)!

Weekend Doings

May 20, 2012

This weekend was a very good weekend. I had some friends visiting from home that I met up with for lunch, did a lot of walking, sold two more shop items (!!!!!!), and did some thrifting/vintage shopping.
I was able to take a little trip across the Hudson to do a little exploring of the local New York tri-state area thrift stores–or I should say thrift store, because I only went to one in Jersey. It is amazing what you can find (vintage wise) once you leave the island of New York. When you go to any of the thrift stores in Manhattan, all you will find are glorified vintage shops. For the very few “real” thrift stores, everything is so picked through, that it is hard to actually find much. It’s a bit depressing. I think I am going to do more research and plan other out of the city thrift trips.

These pictures were taken on the roof of my building by my friend and fellow tenant, Katherine. I live in one of the last women’s residents in New York City. Sometimes it is like living in a big crazy dorm. It is a plethora of eclectic women ranging from 18 to probably 80 years old. There are women who have lived there for 30+ years, students from Europe, business women, interns….  Makes for an interesting place to live. It is a nice place to call home for the time being.

I had been hoping that the roof would be empty, so I wouldn’t have people watching me–but, alas, we were not along. Even though I really enjoying doing photo shoots, I’m still getting used to being a center of attention.

This is the view from the roof. The tallest building in the center of the last photo is the new World Trade Tower. Amazingly sad to see. New York City, you are so beautiful and ugly all at the same time.
