(*Please Note: Since I am in the midst of moving, anything ordered today or tomorrow will not be mailed out until Saturday or Monday. Thanks for understanding!)
Yesterday I finished one of my “things to do before I leave New York.” I did: “Ride the subway to the northern most corner of Central Park and walk down.”
It started out all dandy. I rode the train to the top of the WEST side of the park, I got out of the train, and walked to the park entrance.
It was beautiful, I was taking pictures… Walking, walking, walking. When I finally reached a street, I look over and it says, “5th Avenue.” SO, instead of going south, I went east in a big loop and ended up on the east side.
Go me! So easy to do in Central Park!
It was all good in the end. I had to take a different train home is all.

Tomorrow is my last full day in New York. It is my day for packing, cleaning, and running around like a chicken with its head cut off! I fly back to California on Friday.

No exciting outfit today! 90% of my clothes are either packed or in California. I am wearing “vintage” shorts that I thrifted, though! The navy shorts and red flip flops look very patriotic (even if I wasn’t trying to be). You can’t see it but my nails are also red.

I don’t think I would have wanted to dress up much yesterday anyway. It was sweltering and I was melting! I am one delicate flower when it comes to heat and humidity!

There are supposed to be fireworks on the Hudson River tonight. I think I am going to forgo trying to fight the crowds at the piers and try watching from my rooftops.

I haven’t watched a regular 4th of July fireworks show in YEARS. The city I grew up in stopped having a fire works show when I was a kid. What a disappointment! I used to love when we would drive our truck to some random parking lot and watch the fireworks show sitting in the truck bed.  I loved when they had fireworks in fun shapes and such.

Have barbeques and watch some fireworks today! Happy 4th of July!

Week in Review

July 1, 2012

It has been a week of ups and downs, and I am looking forward to another week of ups and downs. I’ve been doing a lot of scurrying around trying to sell and give away things that I am not taking back to California.

I was able to do ONE thing one my list of “things to do in NY before I leave.” I went to the Elsa Schiaparelli/Miuccia Prada exhibit at The Met called “Impossible Conversations.”  The conversation was impossibly dumb. The one thing that drove me nuts was the fake conversation with Miuccia Prada and the Elsa Schiaparelli impersonator. They had video streaming int the background of their “conversation.” This was so corny and annoying.

I mainly went to see Elsa Schiaparelli’s work, I haven’t ever been a big fan of Prada in the past. I was pleasantly surprised by the exhibit contrasting their work. I have a new appreciation for Prada. In person, Prada was much more appealing than in pictures.

To get out of the 90+ degree heat of the last few days and for kicks I saw the movie “Magic Mike.”  I have to admit Channing Tatum (the actual person, not his character) is the epitome of white Abercrombie, Britney Spears, boy band guy of the late 1990’s to early 2000’s that represent my generation. He is the type of guy that will epitomize my generation when people look back 20 years from now. He is the mullet wearing guy of the 90’s, that is still the same type of guy today. Sorry dude, but your starting to look dated.

So, on the same day I went to the Met, I also saw “Magic Mike”–WHAT a CONTRAST!! One positive thing about “Magic Mike”: Joe Manganiello. They should have given him a bigger part!

On the store side of things, it’s growing and I can’t wait to start expanding! I have so much product and so many plans for the store! I’m so excited! I have also been playing with the layout of the blog (if you haven’t noticed).

Happy July everyone!
